Who charges you, and on whose behalf
What you give a shelter each month is a donation to that shelter. The shelter itself collects it, through its own account with Stripe, an authorised payment institution. The shelter's name is what you will see on your card statement.
Pets, by Germán Ezequiel Laso Andino (ProfBlu), is the tool that makes it possible: it shows you the shelter, takes you to payment and lets you manage your contribution. Your money does not pass through us and we are not a party to your donation.
How much reaches the shelter
- Pets keeps nothing: 0% commission.
- Stripe charges the shelter a small fee for each payment (currently around 1.5% plus a few cents for European cards). That is the cost of the card payment: it is taken off your contribution and the rest goes to the shelter.
- Every receipt shows the three figures: what you give, what the payment cost and what reaches the shelter.
When you are charged
The first charge is made when you pay, then every month on the same day. You pay by card. The shelter will not ask you for anything else for your contribution.
Changing the amount, pausing or stopping
From "My contributions", under "You", in the app or on the web, without having to write to anyone:
- Change the amount: applies from the next charge.
- Pause: while your contribution is paused, nothing is charged. When you resume it, the next charge is on its usual day; the paused months are not charged.
- Stop: whenever you like, at no cost. Nothing more is charged from that moment. Amounts already charged are not refunded, except as set out in the next point.
- Change of mind at the start: if you ask for a refund at soporte@profblu.com within fourteen days of your first contribution, the shelter refunds that first contribution in full.
The shelter is notified when you change or stop your contribution.
If a payment fails
If your bank declines a payment, we let you know by email and Stripe retries it a few times over the following days. Meanwhile you can pay with another card from the link in that email. If it still cannot be collected, your contribution is stopped automatically and we tell you. No debt is claimed and there are no surcharges. You can contribute again whenever you like.
The shelter can see which contributions could not be collected, so it knows what to count on.
Receipts and tax relief
Every month we email you a receipt for the payment. That receipt is not a tax certificate. If the shelter is able to issue certificates that make the donation tax deductible (for example, in Spain under Law 49/2002, or in Italy as a Third Sector entity), it must issue them itself: ask the shelter.
Your data
To collect the payment, the shelter and Stripe receive your name, email and the amount; your card details are handled only by Stripe. See the privacy policy.
If something goes wrong
If you see a charge you do not recognise or a wrong amount, write to soporte@profblu.com and we will sort it out with the shelter. Anything not covered here is governed by the Pets terms of use.
